This groundbreaking vehicle represents the first PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version of the Lamborghini Super SUV and debuted in the UK recently. Boasting a stunning design, refined aerodynamics, and cutting-edge onboard technology, the Urus SE stands as a testament to modern automotive engineering. At the core of the Urus SE lies a muscular hybrid powertrain, heralding a new era of performance, efficiency, emissions, and driving pleasure. The vehicle’s ‘two hearts’, thermal and electric, deliver unmatched torque and power in its category while achieving an impressive 80 per cent reduction in emissions. Delivering an unparalleled driving experience, the plug-in hybrid system amplifies the vehicle’s performance and dynamics. The re-engineered twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine produces 620 PS of clout and 800 Nm of driving torque, complemented by an electric powertrain generating an additional 192 PS and 483 Nm of torque. The result is a total output of 800 PS. This merger ensures an optimal power curve across all driving modes and surfaces. This is one of the questions researchers from the University of Nottingham will be asking visitors at this year’s Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, as they explore wearable consumer brain scanners. The team are demonstrating different types of wearable brain scanning devices and gathering people’s opinions on how they feel about using this new type of consumer neurotechnology. While there are obvious ethical concerns, there is also an opportunity for this technology to help us do our jobs or remind us when we need breaks - something Frazer requires! Max Wilson, associate professor of human-computer interaction at the University of Nottingham, said: “Personal brain scanners are already on the market and whilst they are still in their infancy compared to smartwatches early adopters are already starting to use them. Our research studies how people will use these devices to improve their lives, as well as exploring the emerging ethical concerns, data privacy, and social implications of the imminent future of living with these personal brain scanners.” With personal brain scanners now at the point smart watches were in the year 2000, the path forward will certainly be interesting. And finally The world of Frazer Stress bragging Do you feel as though your colleagues don’t like you? Well, it may be because of ‘stress bragging’. Feeling stressed is a common experience, and one that can have significant consequences for well-being. However, some employees are actively bragging about it to others at work, wearing stress as a badge of honour. New research shows that stress bragging has resoundingly negative implications for braggarts as they are considered to be less competent and less likeable by co-workers. Co-workers are also less likely to help the complainer. So, if you’re a stress bragger, Frazer suggests it might be time for a behaviour change! “This is a behaviour we’ve all seen, and we all might be guilty of at some point,” said Jessica Rodell, lead author of the study and a professor of management in University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. “When I was wondering about why people do this, I thought maybe we are talking about our stress because we want to prove we’re good enough. We found out that often backfires.” 46 Business Link www.blmforum.net Mandatory montage Last month, Frazer read a bizarre and rather gloomy article concerning how businesses are helping manage the stress of call centre staff. Though of course companies showing support for mental health initiatives should be lauded, one bank is offering an interesting system. To help keep employees relaxed on their shifts, an AI model monitors workers to identify when they are close to their breaking point and runs a calming montage of personal photos set to music. While it would be easy to make fun of the tech for how bleak it seems, trials have indicated it does in fact reduce burnout! Fortunately, staff get to choose their own photos and songs. © stock.adobe.com/Matthew Cerff/peopleimages.com © stock.adobe.com/ViDi Studio © stock.adobe.com/sudowoodoOur funding can support your business Growing Places Fund Grant Programme The Growing Places Fund can provide capital investment with a view to increasing productivity in your business, in the form of grants and/or loans from a minimum of £5,000 up to a maximum of £250,000.
