What sets this powertrain apart is that the wheels are only driven by the electric motor, so its response is instant and linear. This is what gives the EV driving feeling and represents a significant alternative to traditional hybrids where drivers must accept its inherent shortcomings in the driving experience. In contrast, the Qashqai’s e-POWER system was developed to deliver the responsive, effortless, smooth, and quiet driving experience reminiscent of a pure EV, but without the need to plug in to recharge. A variable compression ratio 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged 156 hp petrol engine generates electricity, which is then transmitted via the inverter to feed the high-output battery pack, drive the electric motor - or both simultaneously, according to the driving scenario. MG HS MG Motor UK has unveiled images of its new, comprehensively updated HS SUV, revealing a striking new design for the company’s best-selling flagship SUV. Following an extensive redesign, the new HS offers drivers a sharper, more aggressive appearance. At the front, new bi-function LED headlights, a bold grille design and a new front bumper create an enhanced look that confirms the HS as MG’s largest, most luxurious SUV. The new MG HS will now be offered in SE or Trophy specification which have proved popular with UK customers when introduced on the multi award-winning MG4 EV. Both models are powered by a 1.5-litre, turbocharged petrol engine delivering up to 162PS. A manual Nissan Qashqai e-POWER Kuro Edition www.blmforum.net Business Link 41 AUTOLINK gearbox is available as standard, with an optional dual-clutch DCT gearbox offered on both SE and Trophy specifications. Volkswagen ID.7 The ID.7 is the first electric model from Volkswagen for the upper mid-sized class. With a range of up to 700 kilometres (WLTP)2, the Volkswagen limousine is an efficiency champion. In addition to a new drive generation, sophisticated aerodynamics contribute to the ID.7’s long ranges. The aerodynamically favourable basic form, low drag coefficient (Cd value) of 0.23 and frontal area of 2.46 m2 are the result of close cooperation between the Design and Development departments. The ID.7 has an almost completely closed underbody. This is supplemented by newly developed wheel spoilers on the front wheels. These guide the air along the wheels under the vehicle with minimum turbulence. Air curtains at the sides of the front bumper direct the air around the vehicle’s front end with minimum loss. While for most scrawling your name across Tupperware keeps food safe, sometimes a sneaky colleague swipes our snack. But what do you do when this becomes a regular occurrence? That’s the question one employee has taken to the internet to crowdsource an answer for after discovering someone has taken a liking to his lunches. The man explained on Reddit that his wife is an amazing cook, so great that coworkers make comments on his luck, and though he previously enjoyed the meals packed for him, they now keep disappearing, replaced with a note stating “lunch is on me” and some cash. It apparently happens at least once a week, and the worker wants to put an end to it, but how does one proceed, especially after the revelation that it is in fact one of his bosses stealing his food! Suggestions range from a direct conversation to taking two lunches, to investing in an insulated bag that can be kept at the desk or a metal lunchbox with a lock. What would you suggest dear reader? Frazer would personally just keep skipping lunch and pocketing the cash to make a profit! 46 Business Link www.blmforum.net A more welcoming office The epidemic of lonely offices is a serious thing, with hybrid staff frequently welcomed back to a workplace resembling a ‘ghost town’. A new little invention however could be about to brighten up your employees’ day. A brain at Nottingham Trent University has created a coat stand which lights up to greet workers when they hang their garments, aiming to help employers foster a feeling of community. Rhianna, who is studying BA Product Design, said: “I wanted to create something to make people feel more welcome in the office when they arrive. It’s nice to feel like you’re being greeted by something. It’s also a way of signalling who is in that day, and the more people to hang up their coat, the more lights come on.” Bare minimum Mondays Move over quiet quitting, goodbye four day working week, a new workplace trend is gathering steam - ‘bare minimum Mondays’. The movement promotes a gentle start to the week, whether it be by working from home to beat the Monday blues or not scheduling meetings. It involves anything to make the start of the week less stressful and Sundays less dread- filled. Of course there are plenty of critics against the idea, being considered one of the worst strategies some have ever heard, while for others it is key to improving wellbeing. As with any new catchy-sounding concept there are also plenty of jokers, with suggestions that we simply transform the entire week to comprise bare minimum Monday, too tired Tuesday, work less Wednesday, I think not Thursday, and forget it Friday. © stock.adobe.com/ Arman Zhenikeyev © stock.adobe.com/auremar © stock.adobe.com/ Yakobchuk Olena01276 456902 sales@frontiersoftware.com www.frontiersoftware.com OFFICES IN AUSTRALIA, INDIA, MALAYSIA, NEW ZEALAND, PHILIPPINES, SINGAPORE AND UNITED KINGDOM Payroll Outsourcing Services Accurate, Compliant and SecureISO/IEC 17020 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 For all enquiries please TELEPHONE: 01469 575728 | Email: ukinfo@irisndt.com www.irisndt.co.uk CHATHAM | DERBY | DEESIDE | HULL | IMMINGHAM PEMBROKE DOCK | STOCKTON-ON-TEES ADVANCED NDT •Remote Robotic Inspections – Visual & UT •Drone Surveys – Internal and External •Laser Scanning •Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing •Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) •AUT & PAUT Corrosion Mapping •Tube Inspection (IRIS, ECT, RFT, NFA) •Guided Wave Testing – Long Range UT •QSR1 – Corrosion Under Pipe Supports •MFL – Tank Floors and Pipelines •HTHA Inspections (TOFD, TFM, PAUT & TULA) CONVENTIONAL NDT •X-Radiography & Gamma Radiography •Computed and Digital Radiography •Close Proximity Radiography •Ultrasonic Inspection •Magnetic Particle Inspection •Dye Penetrant Inspection •Eddy Current & Eddy Current Array •Positive Material Identification (PMI) •Hardness Testing •Ferrite Testing •ACFM Inspection •Vacuum Box Testing INSPECTION AND TESTING SERVICES IRISNDT is a leading provider of Asset Integrity Engineering, Non- Destructive Testing, Heat Treatment and Laboratory services.
