The 2023 MG HS will continue to offer customers outstanding value for money, retaining the same pricing structure as the outgoing model, with the generously equipped SE specification starting from just £23,495 on the road. Following an extensive redesign, the new HS debuts a sharper, more aggressive appearance. At the front, new bi-function LED headlights, a bold grille design and a new front bumper create an Mercedez-Benz E Class Volkswagen ID.7 38-41.qxp_Layout 1 02/05/2023 15:22 Page 3www.blmforum.net Business Link 41 AUTOLINK enhanced look that re-establishes the HS as MG’s largest, most luxurious SUV. The new MG HS will be offered in SE or Trophy specification, both offering comprehensive equipment levels. At launch, all models will be powered by a 1.5 litre, turbocharged petrol engine delivering up to 162PS. Volkswagen ID.7 Volkswagen now presents the new ID.7, the brand’s first global electric model for the upper mid-size class. The combination of ranges up to 700 kilometres (WLTP)2, superior powertrain, spacious interior and premium technologies makes the ID.7 a comfortable limousine for long distance travel and opens up a new segment for the ID. family. The ID.7 is almost five metres long and was designed based on aerodynamic principles. Its roof slopes elegantly to the rear in coupé style and contributes to achieving an excellent drag coefficient of about 0.23 depending on the vehicle equipment. The long wheelbase and short overhangs create plenty of space in the vehicle interior for all occupants. With the new massage seats and the electronically dimmable panoramic sunroof, the ID.7 offers equipment options that are otherwise present only in the higher classes of premium competitors. The new panoramic sunroof with smart glass can be switched between opaque and transparent settings by touch control. Like many other functions in the ID.7, the roof can also be operated by means of natural voice commands – this takes place using the new IDA voice assistant. The optional front seats are also a new development: for the first time in a Volkswagen, they optionally offer adaptive seat Climatronic – with cooling or heating as required and also a drying function. A massage function with a seal of approval from the German Campaign for Healthier Backs (AGR) is also available. 2023 MG HS 38-41.qxp_Layout 1 02/05/2023 15:22 Page 442 Business Link www.blmforum.net events Mini Masterclass - Challenging Employees and Challenging Conversations Wednesday 10 May Flourish Enterprise, Doncaster Navigating the complexities of HR, and ensuring that you’re doing everything by the book, can be quite a daunting prospect for businesses. But, with over a hundred million mugs of tea consumed across the country daily, how to put together the perfect cuppa is a serious debate, with new claims coming out recently that we’ve all been making the delectable drink wrong! As national tea day took place last month (April), waters Sommelier Samantha Scoles revealed to The Mirror that the secret to the best brew is actually the water we use. Apparently, using freshly filtered water will alter the taste of your tea for the better, with tap water containing minerals prohibiting the delicious flavours of tea developing, as well as organic compounds that further influence smell and taste. The temperature of the water has an impact too, according to Scoles, with the ideal for green tea 70C, and 95-98C for black tea. Ensuring the tea doesn’t brew for too long is vital as well to achieve the best flavour. Scoles isn’t the only expert who has spoken out in the past month though, with Jane Malyon, who runs a company selling afternoon tea hampers, taking to multiple publications to share that very few of us are making our cuppas correctly, noting that boiling water should not be used, instead catching it just before the water boils or just after, and insisting milk should always go in last. So, will you change your tea-making methods going forwards? 46 Business Link www.blmforum.net Office ‘icks’ We’ve all had an annoying colleague or two during our time in the workforce. But here’s a little secret — it’s likely that you too have been the irritating co-worker at some point, without even knowing why! Well, new research polling office workers to find the ultimate office ‘ick’ may help you decipher this. From a daily drop of milk in your tea to stealing someone’s long-awaited afternoon snack, the survey revealed that stealing food from the fridge was the top office no-no. In fact, food-related habits drive people crazy with cooking smelly food in the microwave (#4) and eating loudly (#5) also making the list. Also ranking high is someone starting a conversation in the toilets (#2), having to hear someone’s loud personal phone calls (#3), and leaving message notifications on loud (#6), while oversharing about children, cringey email phrases, typing loudly, and oversharing about one’s love life round off the top ten office annoyances. So, dear reader, do you do any of these? If so, it may be time to change your behaviour to keep your office friendships strong! Capitalising on the coronation With King Charles’ coronation this month (May), many companies have taken the opportunity to capitalise on the situation, coming up with some rather creative ideas and products to mark the occasion. The food industry seems to be the most forthcoming with new, limited-edition goods, from coronation chicken sausages and coronation chicken dog food to Heinz Tomato ‘Kingchup’ and coronation- themed caterpillar cakes. A life-sized bust of King Charles from more than 17 litres of melted Celebrations chocolates has even been made! Not hungry? Then why not try a pair of coronation socks or spruce up the outdoors with king and queen garden gnomes? The Centre for Retail Research estimates that the coronation will bolster consumer spending by £1.4bn, with both Brits and tourists buying up memorabilia, preparing for street parties, and going out to celebrate. © stock.adobe.com/ Michael © stock.adobe.com/WavebreakMediaMicro © stock.adobe.com/ Scott Griessel 46.qxp_Layout 1 02/05/2023 15:25 Page 1Units 4b & 4c, Harpings Road, National Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire HU5 4JF Tel: +44 (0)1482 440222 Email: esales@eyh.co.uk Web: www.eyh.co.uk eyh .co.uk EAST YORKSHIRE HYDRAULICS Hydraulic engineering - design, build, installation and service. • Complete hydraulic systems • Installation and commissioning • Hydro-pneumatic accumulators • Hydraulic equipment • Cylinders Single Source Hydraulic Solutions Design, build, installation and service of hydraulic systems, cylinders, accumulators and equipment.
