The glasshouses at Norton Nurseries in Sheffield’s Graves Park are to be restored and a new operator will be commissioned to grow food in the space.
Currently the glasshouses are underused and at risk of further deterioration. but at a Charity Trustee Sub-Committee meeting this week, a license was granted to commission an operator for up to five years to take over the running of the facility.
The new operator must make use of the facility for food growing and develop a plan to enable fairer access to affordable food for local people.
When selected, the new operator will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the space and contribute to the outcomes identified in the Food Strategy to the benefit of Sheffield.
